In our reading room you can conduct your own research. Access to our reading room with excellent facilities is free. You can find us at Alexander Numankade 199 in Utrecht.

Reserve your time slot

There are 12 places available for viewing original records and archival pieces. These places are only available by reservation. You have to book a timed slot in advance for viewing records and archives. We have 12 spots available each time slot. 
Walk-in visits are available for non-scientific research only and capacity is limited (3 places each time slot).

There are computers in the reading room for independent research in the archives. You can view images and archival documents that have been digitized but cannot be viewed from home due to copyright and/or image rights. In addition, these PCs can be used to consult archive inventories to find the access numbers and inventory numbers. You can also consult the land registry viewer here.

There are 3 reading devices for viewing microfiches and two reader printers for consulting microfilms (Memories of Succession and newspapers or microfiches) with printing options. You do not need a reservation to use these workplaces.

Practical information

Are you planning a visit? Don't forget to bring valid identification. When you arrive, you can register at the reception desk. In our reading room you can use free WiFi and computers. Our team of experts are there to provide information and help.

Opening hours:
Tuesday 9.00-17.00 hrs
Wednesday 9.00-17.00 hrs
Thursday 9.00 to 21.00 hrs.
You can order documents until 16:00.

Getting there by car

Free parking is available at our location Alexander Numankade. 

Getting there with public transport

Take bus 4 to Voordorp from Utrecht Central Station (go to the bus station at Jaarbeurszijde). Exit at bus stop Eykmanplein. From here it is a 5 minute walk.  You can also take one the many busses that stop at Oorsprongpark. From here it is a 9 minute walk. Plan your route here.
