Your starting point for Utrecht's history

persmoment EXPO Utrechts Archief 20 of 28

From the iconic Dom Tower to the beautiful wharves and from heroine Trijn van Leemput to the first Lowlands festival: in the Expo of The Utrecht Archives you will find the highlights of 2000 years of Utrecht history!

Your visit to Utrecht starts with a visit to The Utrecht Archives! Utrecht has a centuries-old history full of unique moments and stories. In our Expo, the archives come to life and historical figures take you on a journey through the past. Witness how Utrecht developed from a Roman army camp to a modern city, discover the religious and spiritual side of Utrecht, see how the canals and wharfs were created, how the first traffic jam came about and how the city's students used to fare.

What can you see and do?

> Take a journey through Utrecht's history.
> See photos, films, drawings and the most important historical documents from the collection of Het Utrechts Archief.
> Meet famous (and not so famous) Utrechters from the past and present.
> Discover the story of our centuries-old monumental building, that used to house the medieval St Paul's Abbey and later the Utrecht District Court.
